Rethinking
how we build

The global construction industry must be rethought by thinking and developing the AM technology of the future.

Establish the problem? We stand proudly united as one. Our goal is to protect the all lifeforms on our planet. Together, we’re part of something larger and extraordinary. The future of wildlife depends on all of us acting now. With our combined efforts, we can prevent species on the verge of extinction from disappearing forever.

Our cities have a problem with waste

Cities produce waste. From material waste to spatial waste, we need to begin to close the loop and kerb waste streams towards more sustainable and circular models.

Closing waste loops through AM

Additive manufacturing enables community driven design and construction that simultaneously closes material waste streams while extracting value from spatial waste.

Community, circularity and craftsmanship

1. Community
First the community comes together and share ideas as to what problem they would like to solve.

2. Circularity
Then we identify local waste streams into which we can tap. Raw material is collected and processed into 3D printing stock.

3. Craftsmanship
The 3D printed elements are then used to build the desired construction —  augmenting traditional crafts with new technologies.

Adaptability
By making our architecture more flexible to ever-changing needs, we can extend the life of buildings and reduce the need for demolition

Temporary structures
Land that is awaiting development can host temporary pop-up spaces that create value and life in otherwise dead parts of he city

Leasing performance
Transitioning into a new economic model of leasing performance rather than buying a single product, for example paying for a performative green wall system

Smart Nodes
Standard elements connected with highly custom nodes. A 3D printed joint system can be employed in the construction of complex surfaces. The logic of the surface is embedded into the element that are connected together with standard length linear members that anyone can assemble.

Waffle Slab
Waffle slab construction is a technique for bearing material during the building process until the structure is fully formed and self-supporting. By extruding the slab elements out of a nozzle, material is deposited precicesly where it is needed and in minimal quantity. The elements are also no longer constrained to the size of standard sheet stock and milling bed sizes

Inflatables
Inflatables have long been the standard in fast deployable and light structures, relatively easy to transport from place to place. Additive manufacturing could start from the scaffolding of the inflatable and make the shape permanent so that the inflatable can be removed and become a permanent structure.

The strategies creates a matrix of opportunities

Using these techniques allows for innovative business models that can be employed to make sites that were previously too hard to use a new resource for the city, new ways to activate areas, new tools for communities to develop the city according to their needs, for growth to become more organic, and experiments to be made in order to democratize construction.
